Rohanna opens with 1-over 73

Rachel Rohanna’s finishing holes Thursday turned an under-par score to a 1-over 73 in the opening round of the inaugural Zimmer Biomet Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez.

The Waynesburg Central graduate was sitting at 2-under after a birdie on No. 12, but closed with a double bogey-5 and a bogey-5 in the final four holes to close the opening day of the four-day tournament tied in 51st place.

Rohanna bogeyed the first hole, but countered with three consecutive birdies on Nos. 4-5-6 to go out in 2-under 34.

She opened the back nine with a bogey, but got the stroke back with a birdie on No. 12.

Rohanna hit 10-of-14 fairways and 13-of-18 greens in regulation, and finished with 30 putts.

Nuria Iturrios holds the lead after the first round with an 8-under 64.
