Waynesburg women lose on the road, 96-79 (copy)

The Waynesburg basketball teams had a tough night Tuesday with the women losing at Case Western Reserve, 96-79, and the men falling at home to Fredonia, 77-64.

Case Western Reserve (1-4) led 26-19, 57-37 and 76-56 at the quarter breaks.

Alli Delany led the Yellow Jackets (0-3) with 14 points. Brooke Fuller and Anika Dansby finished with 11 points apiece. Andrea Orlosky added 10.

Abbey Lawrence scored a game-high 19 points for the home team. Isabella Mills added 18 and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Waynesburg men were tied at 28 at the half, but Fredonia carried the play in the final 20 minutes for the road win.

Brennan Smith led the Yellow Jackets (0-3) with 18 points, hitting 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Isaiah Alonzo scored 13, Frank Bozicevic finished with 11 and Sam Heeter added 10.

Dydy Bryan and De’Quan Smith shared game-scoring honors for Fredonia (3-1) with 24 points each. Moussa Samassa finished with 10 points.
