Mikes clinch section title with win at Uniontown CC
The Carmichaels boys golf team traveled to Uniontown Country Club last Thursday afternoon to clinch the Section 8-AA title.
And, that’s just what the Mikes accomplished with a close 226-228 victory over Uniontown.
The Mikes improve to 11-0 with a section match against Beth-Center remaining. The Red Raiders clinched a team playoff berth despite the loss, going to 9-2 in the section with a section match remaining against Charleroi.
The Mikes built a 6-stroke lead after the first group and then held on for the key section victory. Taggart Shea (41) and Bradley Walker (43) combined for 84, while Uniontown’s Adena Rugola (41) and Nate Moody (49) shot 90.
Delaney Lohr (47) and Nick Ricco (48) held a slight edge over the Red Raiders’ Michael Mercadante (45) and Maddie Myers (51).
Uniontown made up ground with Gage Brugger’s 42, compared to Remmey Lohr’s 47, but both No. 6 golfers’ scores were thrown out.
