Rohanna plays way into final round
Rachel Rohanna entered Saturday’s second round of the Guardian Championship sitting on the anticipated cut at 2-over par.
The Waynesburg Central graduate left nothing to chance in the second round, earning a spot in the final round after shooting a 4-under 68.
Rohanna is tied in 26th place with a two-day total of 2-under 142.
The weather settled down in the second round of the Symetra Golf Tour event in Prattsville, Ala.
“Yesterday was very windy in the morning, but calmed down in my last three holes. Plus, there was some crazy pin placements,” Rohanna said of the opening round. “I actually played pretty good yesterday.
“I just did everything good today. I could’ve been very low, but I’m happy with where my game is.”
Rohanna had six birdies and two bogeys in the second round, compared to three bogeys and only one birdie in the opening round.
Rohanna hit 17-of-18 greens in regulation Saturday, after finding 16-of-18 in the opening round. She cut her putts down to 31 after needing 35 on Friday.
She’s playing in the final round for the first time in a while.
“Yea, tell me about it. It’s been frustrating because I really haven’t been playing bad. I just wasn’t hitting very close second shots,” said Rohanna, adding, “But, it’s getting there.”
Rohanna looks to move up the leaderboard in the final round.
“I’m hoping to improve it. If I play like I’ve been playing, I feel like there’s a low round out there,” said Rohanna.
