Fair to present Barnyard Petting Zoo
The Greene County Fair will once again welcome Jan Marchezak and her popular Barnyard Petting Zoo as a special attraction at the fairgrounds Aug. 10-14.
Each year, Marchezak brings an assortment of all of her “barnyard babies,” including chicks, ducklings, baby pot bellied pigs, baby lambs and goats of different ages, breeds, colors and sizes, baby miniature ponies, donkeys, calves and much more.
In a previous interview with the Messenger, Marchezak said that half the fun of the petting zoo is just being able to see the baby animals.
The other half, she said, is being able to pet, feed and mingle right in with the animals.
The petting zoo will be open to the public the entire time admission is being charged to get onto the fairgrounds.
According to Marchezak, people feeding the animals should not stick their fingers in the animals’ mouths and only feed them from cups or bottles.
Food for the animals may be purchased at the petting zoo.
Established in 1981, the Barnyard Petting Zoo has had animals featured with Jack Hanna on Good Morning America, David Letterman and center stage at the Benedum Theatre to participate in operas.
Animals have also starred on Mr. RogerĢƵ Neighborhood and participated in church pageants, nativity scenes, training videos and television commercials.
