Cree, Menear top GCM girls volleyball team
Carmichaels senior Beth Cree and Mapletown coach Christy Menear headline the Greene County Messenger All-County Girls Volleyball Team for 2022.
Cree was chosen as the Player of the Year and Menear as the Coach of the Year.
Cree was named to the Section 2-A first team, the WPIAL Class A first team and the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class A all-state team.
All Menear did the past two seasons was steer the Lady Maples to their first ever section championship in 2021 and their first ever WPIAL semifinal appearance in 2022. Mapletown ended up with an 18-4 record with three of those losses, including an epic WPIAL semifinal five-set match, coming to district champion Frazier.

Second Team: London Whipkey, Mackenzie Wise, West Greene; Riley Pekar, Bailey Rafferty, Brianna Ashton, Mapletown; Carlee Roberts, Sophia Zalar, Chloe Mitchell, Carmichaels; Karlee Hogue, Waynesburg Central; Mia Baker, Alisa Long, Jefferson-Morgan.
