STORY CLASSES – Spring story classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary children! Stories, games, songs, crafts, and a snack tailored to each age group.
Baby Lap Sit – ages 6 weeks to 18 months Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. | Thursday at 10:30 a.m.;
Toddlers – ages 18 months to 35 months Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. | Fridays at 11:30 a.m.;
Preschoolers – ages 3-5 years Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. | Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.;
Stories Under The Moon – ages 2-6 years Tuesdays at 5 p.m.
FAMILY PLACE PLAY – A free-play session for children three and under and their caretakers to explore a variety of age-appropriate toys and socialize with their own caretakers and with other children. Visits from local experts in various child development fields to answer questions or help you find resources. This spring, sessions will be on both Friday and Saturday mornings at 10:30. TINY TIM TOMATO PROJECT – Wednesday, May 29th at 5 p.m.. Kids will plant a special tomato plant that they can care for all summer; Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will provide plant and teach how to properly care for it. Register at the library.
BOOK READING/SIGNING – Tuesday, May 7, 5 p.m., local author Angela Wilson, reading and signing her new picture book, “Liam Wants a Pet,” along with activities and snacks at Stories Under the Moon. Call the library to register.
MOVIE NIGHT – Double feature, Friday, May 3, 7 p.m. in the STEM Room and Young Adult Room; this month’s movies are “Wish” for kids and “The Beekeeper” for adults; free snacks and beverages; doors open at 6:45 p.m. Call the library to reserve your seat.
PUZZLE CHALLENGE – Saturday, May 11, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m; library looking for 10 teams of two to compete in putting together a 500-piece puzzle in three hours or less; contact library to register; prize to the fastest team.
COSMIC BINGO – Friday, May 31, 7 p.m., Glow in the Dark or “COSMIC” Bingo; doors open at 6:45 p.m.
BOWLBY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING – Monday, May 21, 6:30 p.m.; meeting is open to the public.
GREENE COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM MEETING – Monday, May 20, 5:30 p.m.; Meeting is open to the public and held at Flenniken Public Library.
MAHJONG CLUB – Meets every Wednesday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.. Mahjong is a tile-based game that’s been played in Asia for over 300 years and is gaining global popularity. It’s fairly easy to learn the basics. Please RSVP at the Circulation Desk.
BOWLBY LECTURE SERIES: HELPING GREENE COUNTY STAY GREEN: AN ENVIROMENTAL UPDATE FROM CCJ – Thursday, May 23, 6 p.m.; presented by Tonya Yoders, will provide an update on proposed new mining operations in Greene County, the impact of fracking on air and water quality, pending legislation affecting local environmental conditions, and opportunities (like the Dryerson Festival) for residents to get involved with local issues.
CPR/AED TRAINING [AHA] – CPR Certification classes for Adult, Child, & Infant First Aid, and AED, Saturday, May 18, all classes begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.; call Sharon at 724-984-5702 to register; there is limited seating for this event. Cost is $88 and includes training, workbook, Take Home CPR Kit, 2 yr. certification card & manual.
COMMUNITY SOLAR PRESENTATION – 15-minute presentation on Community Solar for homeowners, renters and business owners followed by questions and answers; starts at 2:30 PM after the CPR Class on May 18.
FRIENDS SHARING GRIEF – First and third Monday evening of every month, at 5 p.m. This is a support group for those who are struggling with the loss of an important person in their life.
TECH TUTORING – Need help with one of your devices?? We want to help! Call the library to reserve a time-slot. Bring your electronic device, account passwords, any devices you use (and charging cords if needed), and your library card. One of our tech savvy librarians will help you with a variety of technology services.
T.O.P.S.: Take Off Pounds Sensibly – A weight management support group that meets every Friday, 10:00 – 11:00AM.
TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS AND FALL PREVENTION – Held Every Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., sessions are led by Sheri Tucker and costs $5. Please call 724-627-9776 to RSVP.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS GAME SESSIONS – Hosted at the library every Friday and Saturday afternoon and begin at 12:30 p.m. and will run until 3:30 p.m. Led by Dungeon Master Eric and Matt respectively. Seating is limited so please sign up in person at the library or by calling us at 724-627-9776.

TODDLER TIME – Toddler time is taught every Friday at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with stories, songs and crafts. Perfect toddlers up to 3 years old and their parents.
STORY TIME – Story Time for ages 3-5 is held every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
BOOK CLUB – Book Club meets at 6 p.m., second Tuesday of the month, May 14, 6-7 p.m.
HIGH TEA, May 19, 2-4 p.m., fun afternoon tea celebrating the release of Bridgertan Season 3, Part 1. Drink tea and much on finger foods while chatting about the show. No spoilers.
