STORY CLASSES – Spring story classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary children! Stories, games, songs, crafts, and a snack tailored to each age group. MOVIE NIGHT – Enjoy a special double feature movie night here at the library Friday, April 5, beginning promptly at 7 p.m.in the STEM Room. This month’s movies are “Trolls: Band Together” for kids and “The Color Purple” for adults. FREE snack and beverage! Call the library to RSVP your seat(s).
APRIL FOOLS’ PICK YOUR PUZZLE CHALLENGE – Monday, April 1 @ 5 – 7 p.m. Join us for a very special puzzle challenge on April Fools’ Day. We will have a selection of 500-piece puzzles for participants, teams of 2, to choose from. The puzzles will be provided by the Bowlby Library. We hope to see you there! Please call to sign-up.
PUZZLE CHALLENGE – Saturday, April 13 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Do you trust your puzzle skills enough to compete against other puzzle lovers??? The library is looking for 10 teams of two to compete in putting together a 500-piece puzzle in three hours or less. ĢƵ the library to register. Prize is awarded to the fastest team.
COSMIC BINGO – Join us for a COSMIC fun time at the library on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. for a fun night of Glow in the Dark or “COSMIC” Bingo!
BOWLBY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING – Monday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m.; meeting is open to the public.
MAHJONG CLUB – Meets every Wednesday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.. Mahjong is a tile-based game that’s been played in Asia for over 300 years and is gaining global popularity. It’s fairly easy to learn the basics. Please RSVP at the Circulation Desk. Following Club Dates: April 3, April 10, April 17, April 24.
BOWLBY LECTURE SERIES: THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD IN GREEN AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES – Wednesday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. Rea Andrew Redd, an experienced history teacher and Civil War reenactor, will describe the history of slavery and anti-slavery in the two counties north of the Mason-Dixon at the time of the Civil War. How common was slave-holding in Greene and Washington Counties? How active were the abolitionists? What evidence is there for slaves passing through this area via the Underground Railroad? Come and learn more of our fascinating history!
CPR/AED TRAINING [AHA] – The library is offering CPR Certification classes for Adult, Child, & Infant First Aid, and AED. Upcoming dates for classes: Saturday, April 20. All classes begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Please call Sharon at 724-984-5702 to register; there is limited seating for this event. Cost is $88 and includes training, workbook, Take Home CPR Kit, 2-yr. certification card and manual.
COMMUNITY SOLAR PRESENTATION – A short 15-minute presentation on Community Solar for homeowners, renters and business owners followed by questions and answers. Starts at 2:30 p.m. after the CPR Class on April 20.
FRIENDS SHARING GRIEF – First and third Monday evening of every month, April 1 and 15, at 5 p.m. This is a support group for those who are struggling with the loss of an important person in their life.
TECH TUTORING – Need help with one of your devices?? We want to help! Call the library to reserve a time-slot. Bring your electronic device, account passwords, any devices you use (and charging cords if needed), and your library card. One of our tech savvy librarians will help you with a variety of technology services.
T.O.P.S.: Take Off Pounds Sensibly – Is a weight management support group that meets every Friday, 10- 11 a.m..
TAI CHI FOR ARTHRITIS AND FALL PREVENTION – Held Every Saturday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., sessions are led by Sheri Tucker and costs $5. Please call 724-627-9776 to RSVP.

WAYNESBURG UNIVERSITY LECTURE SERIES: Speaker Judge D. Brooks Smith, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit will present a free lecture, “The American Jury: Citizens & the Search for Justice from 7 to 9 p.m. April 2 in Alumni Hall, Waynesburg University.
Club meetings/events
CHRISTIAN WOMEN’S CLUB: The local Christian Women’s Club will host its April luncheon from 12 to 1:30 p.m. April 10 at “Mallard’s Landing” at Duck Hollow Golf Club in Uniontown. Cost is $22. ECUMENICAL BREAKFAST: The Greene County Men’s Good Friday Ecumenical Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. on March 29 at Waynesburg Nazarene Family Life Center.
