Raiders’ Tustin among 11 local wrestlers moving on

Roan Tustin was Waynesburg Central’s lone champion in the Class AAA wrestling Southern Regional held at South Fayette on Saturday.

Tustin, one of seven Raiders to advance to this weekend’s WPIAL championships at Canon-McMillan, won the 285-pound title with a 6-4 decision over Upper St. Clair’s Michael Albert.

The Raiders’ Ky Szewczyk (127) and Jake Stephenson (285) lost in the title bout.

Daniel Huffman (152) and Brock Evans (160) finished fourth. Floyd Huff won his fifth-place consolation bout at 114 pounds, and Luke Rush finished sixth at 133 pounds for a spot in the district final.

Also on Saturday, Jefferson-Morgan’s Adam McAnany placed fourth in the 215-pound division at the WPIAL Class AA Individual Wrestling Championship at Chartiers Valley.

McAnany was one of four Greene County wrestlers to advance to the PIAA southwestern regional championship this weekend in Altoona.

The Rockets’ Mason Sisler won his fifth-place consolation bout to earn a spot in the regional.

West Greene’s Noah Collins (114) finished sixth and the Pioneers’ Seth Burns (133) placed eighth with both also advancing.
