Uniontown had three golfers in the 40s, but Albert Gallatin managed to emerge Tuesday afternoon from Duck Hollow Golf Club with a 237-240 victory in the Division I, Section 2 opener for both teams.

The Red Raiders’ Josh Nelson was medalist with a 5-over 40, with Zach Nelson close behind with a 42 and Luke Wallace finishing with a 43.

The Colonials’ Pat McDonough shared low honors with the Nelsons at 40. Brandon Kenney and Cullen Hoone both shot 46, and Brandon Sutton had a 49.

Albert Gallatin is on the road this afternoon against Ringgold at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Laurel Highlands 203, Ringgold 239 — Rich David had the low round at Duck Hollow Golf Club with a 3-over 38, and Harison Laskey and Jeremy Guzy both carded 40 to lead the Mustangs to a home victory over the Rams in the Division I, Section 2 opener for both teams.

Ben Cole shot 41 and Vincent Agostini rounded out the score with a 44.

Connor Kane was the low man for Ringgold with a 44.

Laurel Highlands travels to Norvelt Golf Club this afternoon for an early, yet key, match against Mount Pleasant.

Mount Pleasant 207, Belle Vernon 213 — The Vikings’ Zac Heide shot a 2-over 38 on the road at Willowbrook Golf Course, leading the visitors to a Division I, Section 2 victory over the Leopards.

Andrew Raffensperger shot a 39 for the visitors. Brandon Springer (42), Justin Dent (43), and Andy Yoder (45) rounded out the scoring.

Belle VernonĢƵ Kirby Manown shot 39. Brad Antal and Pat Wilson both carded 41, and Ben Wolfe shot a 44.

The section opener was Melvin GoukerĢƵ first match as the coach of the Leopards.

“I think they were too lax. I think winning the FCCA tournament hurt us,” said Gouker. “I’m very stressed. I’m taking it hard. We have to move on.”
