Rock, Gondura share medalist honors in Frazier’s win over Connellsville
Tyler Rock and Robert Gondura shared medalist honors Tuesday afternoon, leading Frazier to a 213-239 non-section victory over visiting Connellsville at Linden Hall Golf Course.
Rock and Gondura both shot 1-over 37 on the front nine. Andrea Lash shot a 44, and James Novobilsky finished with a 47. Josh Olbrys closed the scoring with a 48.
Jonathan Grinko was the low man for Connellsville (0-3, 0-2) with a 43. Tyler McFadden carded a 45, and Justin Sparger shot a 48. Colt Miller (51) and Ryan Burkholder (52) rounded out the scoring.
Frazier improves to 4-0 overall.
Waynesburg Central 221, Chartiers-Houston 230 — The veteran pair of Loren Dukate and Emily Rohanna led the Raiders to a non-section road victory over the Bucs at the Golf Club of Washington.
Dukate was low man with a 1-under 36, while Rohanna carded a 1-over 37. Aaron Haywood had a 47, Steven Calvario shot a 49, and Dalton Haywood added a 53.
Josh Counihan had the low score for Chartiers-Houston (4-2) with a 43. Zach Teagarden and R.J. Hawanick both shot 44.
Waynesburg (1-0) was scheduled to play California this afternoon, but the match was rescheduled for Sept. 7 at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Jefferson-Morgan 212, California 252 — The Rockets preferred the home surroundings at Greene County Country Club, easily defeating the visiting Trojans for a Division II, Section 8 victory.
Jefferson-MorganĢƵ Zach Berkstresser was medalist with a 2-over 38. Jacob Guthrie carded a 41, and Gillian Alexander finished with a 43. Alex Rush shot a 44 and Cameron Roberts closed the scoring with a 46.
Michael Luketich was the low man for California (0-1, 0-1) with a 42. Brett Schwab finished with a 48. Eric Rucci (50), Josh Luko (55), and Michael Langley (57) also counted in on the final score.
Jefferson-Morgan (3-0, 3-0) hosts Burgettstown this afternoon in a non-section match.
Girls tennis
California 4, Southmoreland 1– The Lady Trojans swept the doubles on their way to a Section 1-AA victory over the visiting Lady Scots.
Elizabeth Wohar and Courtney Pro won their No. 1 doubles match in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-2) against SouthmorelandĢƵ Kristy Figg and Clarissa Horak. Annie Zheng and Crystal Rook completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Justina Jacquillard and Jae Pawlikowsky.
The Lady Trojans’ Miranda Hall defeated Ashley Belzer at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Rachel Wohar needed three sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-2) to defeat Caitland Harmon at No. 3 singles.
Marissa Luden defeated Taylor Tiano at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4, for SouthmorelandĢƵ lone victory.
