Car carrier crashes in Stewart Township
A tractor-trailer hauling seven new vehicles overturned in Stewart Township Thursday morning.
Officials said the crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Ohiopyle Road near Cucumber Falls in Ohiopyle State Park.
The driver of the truck, who was not identified, was flown by medical helicopter to an area hospital for treatment, however, officials said that his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Volunteer firefighters from Ohiopyle-Stewart Township Volunteer Fire Department worked with tow truck crews and other emergency personnel to clear the wreckage for several hours as the truck and trailer rolled over a guardrail, leaving the entire vehicle in the woods with the seven new vehicles still attached to the trailer.
Emergency personnel from Fayette EMS also responded to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Ohiopyle Park police and state police. No further information was available.
