SOUTH CONNELLSVILLE — No one was injured Wednesday when a school bus slid from Reidmore Boulevard into a ditch to avoid another vehicle.

The bus, driven by Paul Burnsworth, was transporting 11 South Side Elementary School students to their homes along Reidmore Boulevard, when it went into the muddy culvert, said South Connellsville Assistant Police Chief Kevin Grippo following the 3:09 p.m. accident.

“He just moved over too much,” said Grippo.

Police did not identify the owner of the second vehicle.

The students were transferred to another bus and then taken to their homes.

“No one was hurt and thatĢƵ the important thing,” said Mayor Pete Casini, who was also at the scene. “You always worry when you hear a bus is involved in an accident.”

Dr. Tammy Stern, acting superintendent, said that parents of the students were immediately notified of the incident.

Also responding to the accident was South Connellsville VFD, Fayette EMS and Connellsville Area School District transportation director Jim Lembo and security director Michael Parlak.
