State police and the Fayette County Coroner's Office uncover what is believed to be a shallow grave at the intersection of Blaine Avenue and McKinley Street in McClellandtown, German Township, Thursday evening.

GERMAN TWP. — State police and officials from the Fayette County CoronerĢƵ Office responded to a location in German Township after a report of an alleged shallow grave at the site was received.

A section of land in a vacant lot at the intersection of Blaine Avenue and McKinley Street in McClellandtown was cordoned off Thursday as officials worked to uncover any possible remains.

Members of the state police Forensic Service Unit uncovered buried material after obtaining a search warrant for the site.

Officials said the material uncovered was initially believed to be human tissue.

Trooper Timothy A. Kirsch said police had received a report that a fetus with a gestational period of 7 months was allegedly buried at 137 McKinley St. but that evidence gathered at the scene was “inconsistent” with that information.

Kirsch said the result of the investigation was that no crime was committed.

Volunteer fire departments assisted police in shutting down the streets near the site during the investigation.

No other information was immediately available.
