An early morning blaze Monday destroyed a local restaurant in South Union Township.
State police said the Caddy Shack Sports Bar & Restaurant at 16 Dixon Blvd. caught fire before the establishment was open for business.
According to Cpl. Thomas J. Maher, state police fire marshal, a passerby spotted the fire about 5 a.m. and called Fayette 911. Maher said by the time emergency crews arrived on scene, flames were shooting through the roof of the restaurant.
Maher said estimated damages to the Caddy Shack were about $400,000 and no cause had been determined by late Monday. He said no injuries were reported as a result of the fire and the investigation continues.
Responding to the scene were emergency personnel from South Union Township Volunteer Fire Department as well as Uniontown Fire Department and the state police.
