Scout sign ups set
All elementary schools in the Uniontown Area, Frazier, Brownsville Area, Albert Gallatin and Laurel Highlands school districts will be open at 7 p.m. Thursday to accept applications and sign-ups for Scouts.
Boys in first grade, or those who are already 7 years old, can sign up for Tiger Cubs and take part in a year-round family and home-centered program that encourages ethical decision-making skills. These boys participate in the program with their adult partners.
The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community and family understanding.
Cub Scouts is a year-round program that develops ethical decision-making skills for boys in the second through fifth grade, or who are 8, 9, and 10 years old.
Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training and personal fitness.
“Most people know about the positive citizen traits that Cub Scouts teaches boys,” said Cub master Dave Meredith.
“However, many people have no idea how much fun a boy can have in the program.”
Kristen Eagle, senior district executive, said Scouting is fun with a purpose.
“We strive to provide an educational program for boys that builds character,-trains them in the responsibilities of being a good citizen, and to develop personal fitness,” she said.
