A Dunbar man is facing multiple charges after police allege he assaulted a woman while she was holding an 8-month-old child earlier this month in Connellsville.

Connellsville police said Devon Edward Lamanna, 23, of 7 Hazel St. was charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, harassment and disorderly conduct following an incident April 9 at a residence on East Fairview Avenue.

Police said that Lamanna got into an argument with an unidentified woman and that during the fight, Lamanna punched the woman repeatedly in the face until she fell to the floor, all while she was holding the baby.

Officers said that Lamanna struck the woman in an attempt to take the child from her, but even after falling, she refused to allow Lamanna to take the baby.

Lamanna then choked the woman until she let go of the child, police said.

When officers arrived, police said they were able to convince Lamanna to give them the child and then took Lamanna into custody.

Police said that the woman suffered injuries to her face and neck and noted that the baby was not injured in the assault. Lamanna will face a preliminary hearing at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Ronald J. Haggerty Jr.
