Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Linda Cordaro recused herself at a December 2011 preliminary hearing for driving under the influence of alcohol that involved her nephew, Robert Rudnik. Cordaro was assigned to Magisterial District Judge Dwight Shaner’s office, where the preliminary hearing was scheduled. Rudnik’s charges were dismissed in 2011, but were recently refiled by the state attorney general’s office. District Attorney Jack R. Heneks Jr. said he was aware that Cordaro and Rudnik were related at the time the charges were filed but was also aware that Cordaro recused herself from trying the case. An article published Wednesday did not mention Cordaro’s recusal.
