A Fayette County man is incarcerated on charges stemming from a kidnapping, assault and robbery incident in Georges Township.

According to court documents, Ronald Lee Smith, 37, no address provided, has been charged with numerous criminal counts including kidnapping, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, making terrorist threats with intent to terrorize another, robbery, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

State police arrested Smith Friday and he was taken to Fayette County Prison.

Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Ron Haggerty arraigned Lee and set his bond at $75,000, according to Fayette County Prison.

Based on previous reports, police said the incident took place July 18 after two pickup trucks collided on Seghi Road.

One of the motorists involved in the collision told police investigators that he had caused the crash in an attempt to get away from multiple suspects that he claimed had kidnapped him the previous day.

The vehicles in the crash each sustained heavy front-end damage and forced emergency personnel to close the road while investigators worked at the scene.

Firefighters said three of the people involved in the crash were taken by medical helicopters to area hospitals for treatment.

At least one additional person suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment.
