Brownsville Area School Board rejected a proposed budget for the 2013-14 school year on Thursday. The budget that was introduced kept the millage rate for Fayette County at 16.57 mills, the same as last year. That means a Fayette County resident with property assessed at $50,000 would pay about $828 a year, which is the same rate for a third year in a row. The budget proposed an increase in taxes for residents of the school district who live in Washington County taking last year’s millage from 86.47 mills to 91.13 mills. That means under the proposed budget, Washington County residents would pay about $91 for every $1,000 in assessed property value. The board plans to meet again June 27. A story that was published Friday included incorrect information. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ apologizes for the error.
