Uniontown man charged in assault on police
A Uniontown man is facing multiple charges after police allege he assaulted a Uniontown Hospital police officer during a domestic dispute at the hospital Monday evening.
Justin M. Jellots, 29, was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following the incident, Uniontown police said.
Officer Jeremy Schult said that the incident occurred when Jellots arrived at the hospital to visit his wife, Cassie Jellots, shortly before 6 p.m. Monday. Schult alleged that Jellots got into an argument with his wife and his mother, Pamela Davidson, who was also at the hospital, and at some point picked up his 5-year-old son and walked out of Cassie Jellots’ hospital room.
As the family began to argue and fight, Uniontown Hospital police stepped in and Justin Jellots allegedly became aggressive toward officers.
During the course of the incident, Jellots pushed Cpl. Robert Mankovich onto a counter top, causing Mankovich injury to his back, Schult said.
He also allegedly resisted arrest, and police had to use a taser to subdue him.
Jellots will face a preliminary hearing at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros.
