Correction
A headline published Thursday incorrectly stated the relationship of a criminal defendant to the alleged victim. Testimony presented Wednesday in Fayette County Court in the assault trial indicated that Franklin Broyles, 43, of Maidsville, W.Va., and Nicole Stallard, 26, of Rices Landing, were friends at the time when he was alleged to have attempted to kill her.
