The Friendship Hill Association and the National Park Service will celebrate the life and times of Albert Gallatin at its annual Festifall Saturday and Sunday at Friendship Hill National Historic Site in Point Marion.

A variety of music, food, crafts and games for the whole family will be available in addition to living history displays at the Site located at 223 New Geneva Road.

Friendship Hill is the historic country home of Albert Gallatin, best known for his service as Secretary of Treasury under Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

The mansion will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gallatin founded the American Ethnological Society in 1842 to help preserve Indian languages and culture that were rapidly disappearing.

Festifall is designed to celebrate Gallatin’s role in helping preserve our early republic.

Gates open Saturday at 11 a.m. with a frontier wedding at the gazebo at 1 p.m. A military weapons demonstration will be held on the north lawn at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., music will be performed by Mark Campbell Trio on the street stage followed by Old Tyme Fiddlers of Morgantown, West Virginia at 3 p.m.

Sunday’s activities begin at 11:30 a.m. with a performance by Pittsburgh bag piper George Balderose on the street stage until 1:30 p.m.

Balderose brings with him 30 years of performing Scottish and Irish pipe music on the Great Highland Bagpipe and various sets of bellows smallpipes playing at weddings, concerts, festivals, funerals, birthdays and other special occasions.

A military weapons demonstration will be held on the north lawn at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Acoustic Shadows will perform from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on the street stage with a frontier wedding also at 3:30 p.m. at the gazebo.
