A 1900s brick farmhouse redesigned by its current owners to accommodate overnight guests and travelers with a penchant for history and memory making has been placed on the real estate market.

The Inne at WatsonĢƵ Choice and Harvest House Bed and Breakfast, located at 234 Balsinger Road in German Township, is currently listed at $1.8 million through Barbara Baker, realtor with Prudential Preferred Realty.

“ItĢƵ in pristine condition and could be a really lucrative business for someone that has an interest in bed and breakfasts,” said Baker.

The inn, owned by Bill and Nancy Ross, is situated on 42 acres and originally was an 1820ĢƵ land grant farm known as WatsonĢƵ Choice.

The farm derived its name in 1769 after a land warrant of 325 acres was issued to John D. Watson for 53 British pounds.

The couple initially purchased the property in 1980 and did the majority of renovations, preserving much of the original character, such as oak plank floors, fireplaces and oak beamed ceilings.

Bill Ross said they decided to turn it into a bed and breakfast in 1997, with people from all over the world having stayed, including sports and television figures.

Ross said he and his wife decided to sell the property because itĢƵ time to move on.

The Inne features a huge breakfast room with stone fireplace and seven guest rooms, all with individual themes and furnished with colors and fabrics reminiscent of the eighteenth century.

They include the Pineapple Queen, Bluebird Queen, Quilt Queen, Apple Orchard Queen, Ivy Queen, Flower Garden King and John Watson Queen Room.

While the charm is from another era, each room is equipped with a host of modern amenities such as individual climate-control and a private bathroom. WiFi is also available.

Additionally, there is a private residence for the innkeepers and a Harvest House that has four guest rooms, a gathering room and a suite used for special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.

Baker said plenty of outdoor seating arrangements abound on the property that also includes a fire pit, pond, covered patio, stable, screened in gazebo, a barn converted to a summer time venue and two new cottages each with kitchenettes, a bedroom and full bath.

“The gardens are lovingly tendered and the surrounding views are breathtaking,” said Baker.

The Inne and bed and breakfast is located near Fallingwater, Kentuck Knob, wineries, Ohiopyle, Nemacolin Woodlands and Cheat Lake and Deep Creek in Maryland.
