State police are investigating a string of burglaries reported near Uniontown.

Police said seven burglaries occurred between Feb. 24 and Tuesday on National Pike about a half mile east of Uniontown in North and South Union townships. Homes located on Atlas Loop, Meadow Lane and Chalafaunt Street were burglarized.

Police said the thief broke in through window or door frames and rummaged through the residence before removing game systems, video games, laptop computers, guns and jewelry.

Police said the suspect was last seen Tuesday walking along Route 40 toward Hopwood.

Police describe the suspect as a white or possibly Hispanic male, mid 20s to early 30s, thin build, thick mustache, dark hair, wearing a dark blue or black coat with a hood pulled up, dark pants and dark shoes.

Anyone with information concerning the identity of the suspect is asked to call Trooper James Pierce at 724-415-1012 or Fayette County Crime Stoppers or police at 724-439-7111.
