Everson man charged with stealing $5,000 in tools
An arrest warrant was issued for an Everson man who allegedly stole $5,000 worth of tools belonging to a woman’s late husband.
Charges were filed Monday against Christopher Nicholson, 29, for allegedly stealing the tools in March.
Julie Brown, 53, of Everson, told police that two months ago she asked a friend, Joseph Sherwood, to do some work at her house, according to an affidavit of probable cause. She said she noticed her deceased husband’s name and initials were on the tools he was using. When she asked Sherwood about the tools, he told her he bought the tools from Nicholson a few months before.
Brown asked her mother about the incident, according to the affidavit, and she said that she saw Nicholson go into the shed, take the tools and put them in his truck in March. She said she assumed he was told he could borrow them.
Nicholson is facing charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II.
