Over one dozen engines respond to fire at 1008 Main St. in Republic on Thursday. The fire was ruled arson by a state police fire marshal.

A fire at an apartment building in Republic on Thursday that injured multiple firefighters and damaged a municipal building was ruled arson by a state police fire marshal.

The apartment building at 1008 Main St. caught fire just after 6:30 p.m., displacing 14 occupants. The Redstone Township Sewer Authority and Tax Office was also damaged in the blaze, according to police.

Multiple firefighters were treated for heat and smoke-related injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Police listed the owner of the building as Daniel Solomon of Merritstown.

No charges have been filed in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call state police Trooper James Garlick at 724-223-5229.
