Brownsville man arrested after chase
A Brownsville man who was arrested on a bench warrant allegedly escaped custody briefly Friday night.
Brownsville police charged Devan J. Wood, 29, Monday, after he was spotted in the parking lot of A-Plus Mini Mart on High Street and was handcuffed.
Wood allegedly ran onto Broad Street and then into Apple Alley, where he was taken back into custody, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case.
Police searched him and allegedly found him to be in possession of cocaine.
He is charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, escape and flight to avoid apprehension.
