One of two men who allegedly assaulted and restrained a Brownsville man in his home in August during a robbery was arrested Friday.

Joshua Lee Brown, 32, of Fairchance is facing robbery, aggravated assault and other charges for the alleged home invasion Aug. 14.

The alleged victim, Jeffrey Thompson, told police that a woman knocked on his door at about 6 a.m. and asked for help. The woman, later identified as Vanessa Dawn Buttermore, 22, of Brownsville, is also facing charges in the case. Thompson let her inside but determined he was not able to help her, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case.

Two men with pistols allegedly forced their way into Thompson’s High Street home as Buttermore was leaving. One of those men was identified as Brown. The other has not yet been charged.

The men allegedly pointed their pistols at Brown, threatened to shoot him and forced him to the ground, according to the affidavit. One of the men allegedly hit Thompson in the head with a pistol. They allegedly tied his wrists with zip ties and dragged him into another room before ransacking the residence.

They allegedly stole jewelry and $1,800 in cash, police said.

Police said Brown does not have a concealed carry permit and was not permitted to possess a firearm because of his criminal history.

Brown was released from Fayette County Prison less than one week before the home invasion, prison records indicate.

He is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, prohibited possession of a firearm, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, possession of a crime with intent, possession of a weapon, recklessly endangering another person, loitering and prowling at nighttime, three counts of robbery and two counts of simple assault.

He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.

Buttermore is charged with two counts each of conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit theft.
