A South Union man was flown to a trauma center after he was allegedly stabbed during an argument about speeding.

Nicholas Michael Sokol, 21, of Uniontown is facing criminal attempt to commit homicide and other charges for allegedly stabbing Kevin Lowry twice in the back and slashing his throat on a Connor Street sidewalk.

LowryĢƵ fiancee, Brandi Fike, told police that the couple has continuing problems with Sokol speeding past their house. She said they have asked him multiple times to slow down. On Monday night, she said she saw Sokol speed past their house in an SUV twice. The second time, she went outside to confront him, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

She said the situation escalated when Lowry also began arguing with Sokol. She said Sokol said to Lowry, “You wanna get cut?” The two began grappling, although she said she did not see the stabbing. Lowry was able to walk back to his residence for help, police said.

He was transported by helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia. Police said he is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sokol is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault and reckless endangerment.

He was arraigned Tuesday morning before Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries and lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
