Masontown approves grant applications
MASONTOWN — Borough council agreed on Tuesday to submit grant applications for waterline and demolition projects.
Council members voted unanimously to apply for $107,352 in Community Development Block Grant money through the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority to replace water lines along three streets.
The borough’s required $14,000 match in included in the total, said borough engineer Bill Johnson.
In addition, council approved applying to the authority for $119,600 from the Local Share Account to demolish a vacant commercial building at 119 S. Main St. and build a community square in the lot.
Council also reminded residents that water service will be shut off for people who are two months delinquent in paying their water and sewage bills on Aug. 4.Â
