Two charged with assault in stabbing
A woman is facing charges after she allegedly stabbed a man in the back while he was choking her mother Saturday.
Nicole Katherine Hagan, 18, of West Newton is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault for allegedly stabbing Scott Wilson Woodhouse, 52, of West Newton. Woodhouse is also facing charges.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Hagan and her boyfriend, Ryan Vertullo, were lying in bed watching television when Woodhouse ran up the stairs with a knife in his hands and threatened to slit their throats if they weren’t quiet.
Woodhouse allegedly jumped on the bed, dragging Hagan by the hair and pinning her Vertullo to the bed. Hagan called for her mother, Maureen Woodhouse, who attempted to break up the fight. He allegedly pushed her away, injuring her foot and leg.
The Woodhouses went downstairs and Hagan called 911. Woodhouse allegedly went upstairs again and tried to push Hagan and Vertullo down the stairs. Hagan and Woodhouse continued arguing in the kitchen, where she grabbed a knife after he lunged at her, according to the affidavit.
Woodhouse allegedly had Hagan’s mother in a choke hold and Vertullo pinned against the porch railing when she stabbed him in the back.
Woodhouse is charged with three counts of terroristic threats and six counts of simple assault. He is lodged in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
Hagan is free on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
