Gina Ciarrocchi Applause
Gina Ciarrocchi of Uniontown recently won the $1,800 second-place prize in the 2016 Student Writing Competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This yearĢƵ topic was “How Will the Emergence of Big Data Affect the CPA Profession?”
Ciarrocchi, a recent graduate of Duquesne University, earned a spot in the top three out of 141 entries for her essay examining the benefits and ramifications of the expansion and increased accessibility of digital data for accountants.
Ciarrocchi received her bachelorĢƵ degree in accounting in May, with minors in finance and business law. She is a member of Delta Sigma Pi International Business Fraternity and former president of Lambda Sigma National Honor Society. Ciarrocchi is currently working toward earning her CPA license, and will begin a career in federal tax at KPMGĢƵ Pittsburgh office this fall.
Entries for this annual contest come from both undergraduate and graduate accounting and business majors attending Pennsylvania colleges and universities, as well as Pennsylvania residents who attend out-of-state colleges or universities and major in the same fields. This year, all three winners are 2016 graduates of Duquesne University.
