A South Connellsville man charged in the disappearance of a Uniontown teen was arraigned Monday morning on six felony charges.

Sean Michael Ruby, 24, allegedly began talking to the girl on Facebook and exchanged nude photographs with her in October. She was 16 at the time.

The girl told Trooper David L. Bell the two planned to meet after talking daily for a month, according to the affidavit of probable cause. She said she got into a fight with her mother Nov. 4 and contacted Ruby.

He allegedly had a friend pick her up in Uniontown and bring her to a trailer in Dunbar Township. There, he allegedly cut a birth control device out of her arm. She told police there was “blood all over the place” from the removal.

She said she dyed her hair black on his instruction. She told Ruby she wanted to go home, but he allegedly refused. She told police that “if she left him he would make a phone call and people would show up at my mom’s house and hurt them,” according to the affidavit.

The girl said the next morning, Nov. 6, they walked to the train tracks by the Youghiogheny River and climbed into a coal car. The two allegedly rode the train to Cumberland, Maryland.

Four days later, Cumberland police arrested them after they were found in a garage they allegedly broke into. The girl was yelling in her sleep, prompting a call for a disturbance.

She was transported home while Ruby was arraigned on charges of fourth-degree burglary, contributing to the condition of a child and malicious destruction of property. On Feb. 25, he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree burglary and was sentenced to 18 months in jail and 14 months, 13 days suspension. The two other charges were dismissed, according to court documents.

Ruby is lodged in Fayette County Prison on charges of unlawful restraint, interference with child custody, corruption of minors, child pornography, unlawful contact, criminal use of a communication facility and simple assault.

He was arraigned on a $50,000 bond set by Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis.
