Police: Charleroi man beat pareplegic woman

By The 1 min read

A Charleroi man was arrested after he allegedly beat a paraplegic woman in her house Saturday.

John Wayne Koster Jr., 45, allegedly hit the woman at 1010 Upper Meadow Ave. after they had been drinking and arguing.

Police were dispatched after someone called 911 to report a woman screaming in distress.

They made forcible entry into the house after knocking several times, and found the alleged victim, Molly Sager, lying on the floor near shattered glass, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

She told police he pushed her off the bed and hit her above the eye, causing swelling.

Sager said that when the police knocked on the door, he put her hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming.

She said she was unable to get up from the floor herself due to her paralysis.

Koster is charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment. He was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge David W. Mark and lodged in Washington County Prison.

He has been free on bond since Monday after a $50,000 bond was posted on his behalf.
