State police seek three suspects in Brownsville theft

By The 2 min read

State police said a man was robbed early Tuesday when a woman asked him to borrow a cellphone.

The alleged victim, Arthur Wells, 64, reported his wallet and $600 cash was missing after the woman knocked on his door at Cadwaller Street at 4:15 a.m. saying she lost her cellphone and needed a ride, according to police.

He shut the door and went inside to get his phone and found her standing in his entryway, police said. She then asked for a glass of water, and he returned to find a second woman, who said she was the sister of the first woman.

He discovered his wallet was missing, but the women denied taking it, police said. Wells attempted to detain the women when a man came inside telling him not to touch them.

The three suspects fled in a gray Saturn Ion, police said.

Wells told police the first woman was blonde, about 5-feet 6-inches tall in her early 30s and wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans and pink shoes. The second woman was described as heavy set, blonde, wearing a faded black Adidias hoodie, camouflage baseball cap with a ponytail and a missing front tooth.

The man was wearing white shoes, blue jeans, a camouflage coat and had a black beard, according to police.
