Masontown teen charged with sexually assaulting woman at party
A Masontown man was charged Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a party in April when he was 17.
George Gilbert Bowman III, who turned 18 earlier this month, was matched to the alleged victim by DNA evidence, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case.
The aunt of the alleged victim reported to police that her niece was drinking heavily at the party in Nicholson Township April 9.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ does not identify those who allege they are victims of rape.
The aunt said her niece went to the basement to lie down on the couch at about 1 or 2 a.m., and later became sick. She put a bucket near the couch in case she vomited again.
At about 3 a.m., the woman’s aunt and uncle said they heard the bucket being moved around on the floor. The aunt said she went to the basement and found her niece’s pants and underwear pulled down, and the lower part of her body off of the couch. She said she pulled up her niece’s clothes and the alleged victim remained unconscious, according to the affidavit.
She told police she found Bowman with his pants undone and zipper down. She allegedly asked him what happened, and he responded, “What?”
She yelled at him to leave the house, police said.
The alleged victim said she does not remember anything until she was loaded into an ambulance at about 5 a.m. Investigators completed a rape kit, and DNA collected from the woman’s rectum matched Bowman, according to court documents.
He is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault, all felonies.
Court documents indicate he hired David W. Kaiser as his attorney.
He is free on a $250,000 unsecured bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25 before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock.
