Woman brutally assaulted with rock for parking in front of house

A 62-year-old woman brutally beat another woman with a rock because she parked in front of her McClellandtown house, police said.

Marcia Denise Alexander of Douglasville, Georgia told police she got into a fight with Anita Harris July 31 because she would not stop parking in front of her house on Long Street, according to court documents.

Harris was found inside the residence with blood coming from her face and mouth. Her eyes were nearly swollen shut,German Township police said. She was flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Witness Andrea McKoy told police she saw Alexander beating Harris with a rock that looked like asphalt. She attended to Harris before first responders arrived, police said.

Alexander is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal attempt to commit simple assault.

She is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond set by Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock. Her preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 23 before Shimshock.
