Charges refiled in Uniontown attempted homicide, kidnap case
Charges were filed a second time against a man who allegedly shoved a loaded gun in a womanĢƵ mouth and drove her around Uniontown searching for her ex-boyfriend.
All but one of the charges filed against Christopher Allen Phillip West, 32, of 5 Crowe Ave. were dismissed in February after the woman refused to testify at his preliminary hearing. Charges were filed again Wednesday.
The woman placed a frantic 911 call Dec. 20 saying someone was assaulting her and holding her in his truck on Dunlap Street. She hung up, saying he was coming back. Police searched for the truck and the woman as dispatchers pinged her location. About 40 minutes later, officers found her calling “help” from a window at the Crowe Avenue residence.
She told police West was angry over a message she sent to her ex-boyfriend. He allegedly shoved a loaded gun in her mouth saying “I will kill you” and held the gun to her face saying “You’re going to take a bullet today,” according to court paperwork.
He drove her to several houses searching for the ex-boyfriend and assaulting her, police said.
At the residence, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
West denied much of the violence during police interviews, saying he only “slapped her around” and carried the gun with him, court documents said.
He is charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit homicide and one count each of aggravated assault, simple assault, unlawful restraint, kidnap and indecent exposure.
West is awaiting trial on the one remaining charge from the initial filing, a felony count of felon not to possess a weapon. He was convicted on involuntary manslaughter in 2004.
He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
