Three people were charged after police allegedly observed a transaction of 10 pounds of suspected marijuana in Uniontown.

State police were preparing to serve a search warrant at 27 W. Highland Ave. Wednesday afternoon when Zachary James Shumar, 23, of Philadelphia drove up to the residence in a Ford Focus with passenger Alexis Amber Armel, 29, of Uniontown, according to court documents.

Police said Robert William McKinley Thomas, who is listed as a resident of the house, carried a cardboard box from inside and placed it in the trunk. Police allegedly found 10 pounds of suspected marijuana in the box, along with smoking glasses, a marijuana grinder, digital scale and a clear plastic container holding white residue, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed in their cases.

Police searched the residence and allegedly found additional smoking devices and other items, including a gas mask bong, blueberry edible residue for growing marijuana and a prohibited switchblade, according to court documents.

Armel and Shumar are facing two counts of possession with intent to deliver and one count of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Thomas is charged with possession with intent to deliver, conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and offensive weapons.

They were arraigned Tuesday night before on-call Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr. and lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bonds.

In January, a case filed against Armel, in which she allegedly stabbed Shumar in the hand, was dismissed.
