Man found naked after Connellsville crash arraigned
A man who was allegedly found naked on a Connellsville street after crashing into a house was arraigned Tuesday morning.
Darren R. Warner, 30, of North Huntingdon allegedly punched a state police trooper in the face multiple times when he was asked why he was walking around with no clothes on Jan. 13.
Connellsville police allege Warner crashed a 2004 Hyundai sport utility vehicle into the basement of a house at 619 Blackstone Ave. about 8:20 a.m. The vehicle caught fire, igniting the house. Officials said the fire spread quickly but was contained.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in WarnerĢƵ case, Trooper Nicholas Saylor was on routine patrol when he spotted the naked man on Route 119. Saylor rolled down the window to question Warner and called for backup. Warner allegedly reached through the window and grabbed the radio, saying, “You need to speak to God.”
Saylor was attempting to take the man into custody when Warner allegedly punched the trooper in the head, splattering blood throughout the cruiser, damaging his shirt and jacket and breaking the radio.
Warner is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, indecent exposure, institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct, open lewdness and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. and lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
