Man flees Uniontown traffic stop, driver also charged

A man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop on Darby Alley in Uniontown Friday.

Uniontown police allegedly found two firearms, one reported stolen, and suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Police said Lyric Ellis, 20, of Uniontown ran after identifying himself to officers.

Police said he appeared to be reaching toward the center console after the traffic stop. They found a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun in the console after Ellis fled, according to court documents.

Driver Jamar R. Harris Jr., 23, of Uniontown was allegedly found with a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun reported stolen to Delmont police.

Police said neither man has a permit to carry a concealed firearm.

Ellis is charged with escape, firearms not to be carried without a license, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Harris is charged with receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
