13-year-old boy shot through wrist in Uniontown

A 13-year-old boy was shot early Friday morning while he was driving a vehicle on Jefferson Street, according to Uniontown police.

Police said a bullet went through the boyÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ wrist. He was transported to ChildrenÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The investigation continues into who fired the shot at the boy.

The boyÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ passenger, William Joseph Colbert of Connellsville, was charged after he was found with a .22-caliber Ruger firearm in the vehicle. He turned 18 June 24.

He admitted to firing a shot on Breakneck Road in Connellsville, according to court documents.

Police also found beer in the car.

Colbert is on juvenile probation and not permitted to possess a firearm, court paperwork said.

He is charged with prohibited possession of a firearm and firearms not to be carried without a license. Colbert is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
