State police said a man is dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head after police were called to a Georges Township address Tuesday morning.

The name of the man has not yet been released. No charges were filed Tuesday afternoon.

Lt. Steven Dowlin said police are questioning two people.

“I just want the public to know that there is no immediate threat at this time,” he said.

Dowlin said police were called to the 3540 Morgantown Road address just before 10 a.m.

Neighbor Sharon Mayfield said she was on her back porch when she saw police wearing bulletproof vests rush to the garage next door with weapons drawn.

“I locked all my doors up. Scared me half to death,” she said.

Dowlin said they found the man dead inside. Evidence tents marked items outside, including a wallet and a screwdriver.

Mayfield said she did not hear any shots fired, but a noise woke her boyfriend, Larry Smith, in the middle of the night.

She said she has lived there for 37 years and never witnessed any serious incidents in the area.

“It’s scary,” she said. “It is.”
