A man and woman were both charged Sunday after they allegedly stabbed each other on Hickle Street in Uniontown at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Richard Hinton, 27, of Braddock and Shirale Harris, 22, of Uniontown are both charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of simple assault.

Police said Harris is Hinton’s ex-girlfriend. Uniontown police interviewed both Hinton and Harris, who gave conflicting accounts of the incident.

An officer interviewed Hinton at Uniontown Hospital, who reported he was walking into Pershing Court when Harris drove up to him and got out of her car with a steak knife in her hand. He reported she stabbed him on the side of the head, and he attempted to take the knife from her. He said Harris drove away, and a neighbor drove him to the hospital, according to court documents.

While at the hospital, police were dispatched to Cleveland Avenue for a woman reporting Hinton stabbed her. Another officer interviewed Harris, who reported she was sitting in her vehicle waiting for a friend when Hinton walked up to her and took her car keys. She said they began fighting when Hinton took out a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the arm. She drove to her aunt’s house, where she called for an ambulance, according to paperwork filed in the case.

Police said Hinton suffered a laceration to his head and left arm and Harris suffered a laceration to her left arm.

They were arraigned early Monday before on-call Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II and lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bonds.
