Uniontown woman found with 70 bundles of heroin and other drugs
A Uniontown woman was arrested Monday after she was allegedly found with 70 bundles of heroin and other drugs during a traffic stop in the city.
Lydya Caye Dennis, 21, of Pearl Street is charged with four counts each of possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
State police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at about 12:45 p.m. Monday on Butler Street for a burned out tail light. Police said Dennis was a passenger in the vehicle.
Troopers said they saw a bundle of heroin in the passenger seat. Dennis was removed from the vehicle and found with two small baggies of marijuana, according to court documents.
Police said there was “a large bulge protruding from the defendantĢƵ crotch area.” She was taken to the station for further investigation from a female trooper, who found 70 bundles of suspected heroin and two grams of suspected raw brown heroin in the womanĢƵ underwear, according to court documents.
Police said 10 oxycontin pills, a small bag of suspected heroin and a small bag of suspected powder cocaine were found in the suspectĢƵ pocket.
She is lodged in Fayette County Prison in lieu of a $250,000 bond set by Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries.
Dennis’ preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 27 before Jeffries.
