Hearings held in $1 million theft from Connellsville company
Two women facing hundreds of charges for allegedly stealing more than $1 million from a Connellsville company had preliminary hearings Tuesday, though only one of the suspects attended.
Tammy Lee Keefer, 43, of Donegal had 1,416 charges held for the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas in her absence. Lisa Dawn Cavanagh, 49, of Dunbar waived her 1,316 charges to the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday.
The two women allegedly stole $1,021,364.04 from CAP Glass Inc., over five years. Police allege that Cavanaugh printed fraudulent checks from her former employer, and Keefer allegedly cashed the checks for half the money.
Magisterial District Judge Richard Kasunic II filed a request for a bench warrant for Keefer Tuesday. She was freed from Fayette County Prison Sept. 14 after a $100,000 bond was posted on her behalf.
Cavanaugh’s $100,000 bond was set as unsecured at the time of her arrest Aug. 30.
Both women are facing charges including burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, forgery, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit forgery and conspiracy to commit theft.
