Driver identified in fiery fatal crash in Springfield Twp.

State police tentatively identified the driver in a fatal Springfield Township crash that occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Springfield Pike.

Andrew J. McLaughlin, 27, of Connellsville was named as the driver by state police. The identity will be verified by an autopsy.

According to state police, McLaughlin lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. The 2011 GMC Sierra left the roadway, hitting a traffic sign, utility pole and a tree where it became engulfed in flames near 2488 Springfield Pike. Police said the man was unable to remove himself from the vehicle.

He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.
