Car lands in North Union Township pool
A teen driver lost control of his vehicle during heavy rains and landed in an above-ground pool in North Union Township Thursday, officials said.
State police said driver Michael Joseph Klippi, 18, of Uniontown was driving on Rolling Hills Estate Road (State Route 1022) and hydroplaned, losing control of his vehicle at about 7:30 a.m.
The car crossed into the opposing lane of traffic, drove through a yard and went airborne before landing on a wooden deck at 225 Rolling Hills Estate Rd., and then landed in the swimming pool.
No injuries were reported.
West Leisenring and North Union volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
Efforts to remove the car the from the pool will be delayed until ground conditions are drier following heavy rains overnight, according to Fayette County 911 dispatch.
State police identified the homeowner as David William Smith.
