Coroner, police investigating man’s fall from Mon/Fayette Expressway bridge

The Washington County CoronerÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ office has confirmed that a man fell to his death Thursday morning in Union Township.

The cause and manner of death are pending in the investigation, Coroner Timothy Warco said in a release.

The man fell to his death from the southbound portion of the deck of the Joe Montana Bridges between 8:50 and 10:05 a.m.

Warco said the man, whose name and address were withheld pending the notification of his family, was pronounced dead beneath the bridge along Route 43 in Finleyville at 11:40 a.m.

The coronerÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ office is investigating the death as a suicide. State police are also investigating.

Also assisting at the scene of the incident were volunteer fire companies from Elrama and Valley Inn, in addition to Jefferson Hills EMS, Tri Community EMS and Monongahela City Police.
